The Rap Bible

I started out just listening to rap, but over time I became curious of the word plays rappers employ and what they mean with their lyrics. I believe it was an Eminem song , which got me thinking about it; however, I am not certain. Anyways, I began searching for a website and I stumbled upon rapgenius.com. It was an amazing website and I was instantly hooked. Now, whenever I need to look at the meanings of lyrics, rapgenius.com is where I go. They have a wide database of songs not just limited to English rap and have verified accounts of actual rappers. So, as you look through a song by Nas, you may find one line explained by himself. It truly is amazing. Therefore, if you are looking for a good website to use as a guide in understanding rap lyrics, rapgenius.com is the address for you.

Greetings!

I don't know what got me hooked on to rap music, but since I was young I've been a huge fan of the genre. Especially since moving from Virginia to Turkey, I've really felt all alone when it comes to sharing my love of the genre.

When I think harder, I see my love of rap most probably coming from the NBA. The first video games I played were NBA Live games and the soundtracks of each game were mainly rap music. In addition, I spent most of my nights watching the beloved Fresh Prince and singing the theme song. Back then, though, I was not that deep into rap music as I am today. I only knew a couple of major names, but now I'm beginning to learn more and more about this intricate style of poetry. I'd rather call it poetry because when a rap song is truly amazing (Such as Kendrick Lamar's songs), they become a work of poetry.

I believe that I am equipped enough to start a blog about my favorite genre and will focus on all aspects of rap and I will hopefully post a few of my own poems that I struggle to write. Enjoy!
